Bring on Christmas

goodbye Thanksgiving.  hello Christmas!

Don’t get me wrong, the turkey buffet was good and all, but we sure do love Christmas around here.  We were excited to put Christmas lights on our new house in Lehi this year.

Here I am on our roof, attaching the lights to the… wait, no that’s not me.  Oh that’s right, we opted to hire someone else to climb our skyscraper this year.  Luckily, he didn’t fall to his death.

Here’s the end result.  Pretty classy if I do say so myself. Now all we need is some icicles and a snow man.

Some of you may or may not know this, but Shalauna LOVES LOVES LOVES to decorate the house for the holidays!  And Christmas is basically the grand finale of the year.

Here’s our Christmas tree.  Bright like a Diamond.  But, it didn’t start out that way.  When we set up the tree, at least half of the bulbs were out!  We made a trip to Home Depot to get some replacement bulbs or possibly a whole new strand of lights.  That’s when I found the Light Keeper Pro.

I was skeptical, but decided to give it a chance.  And amazingly, this little gadget fixed our light problems effortlessly.  Give it a try if you are having problems with your lights, I highly recommend it.

Anyway, if you look under the tree you’ll notice a plethora of books beneath it.  That’s because we collect Christmas books and place them under the tree… until presents start to show up that is.

Don’t worry, Shalauna didn’t stop with the tree decorations – she also wrapped the banister with garland and lights.  Just when you think, “you know, I could use a little more tree”, garland comes to the rescue.

OK, here’s a little something for the geeks reading the blog.  This year I used a few Wemo Switches to control all the Christmas lights.

It’s a plug that connects to your wireless network so you can control it from your iPhone (or android) anywhere in the world.  You know, so you can control your Christmas lights at home during your vacation in Europe.  Or, if you like, from the living room couch.

Well, that’s it for our Christmas kick-off.  Come on over and and let’s enjoy the decorations with a hot holiday Steamer and a few movies!

  1. Sweetie, you are seriously the funniest person I know! I love reading your blog posts. Still laughing just thinking about you controlling all the lights from the couch or our bed….. Haha!!

First of all, your pies sounded great and looked delicious. Second of all, you guys put me to shame. I showed Melissa your blog. As she was admiring the tree, wreath, garland, and the exterior light she looked at me and said “That should inspire you to action before the leftover turkey is gone”. And that’s when the fight started! 😉 Love you guys!

    Jason,
You had me laugh at the office today. I had to take a closer look at the guy hanging lights photo, just to ensure it wasn’t you. Yep. Nope. But darn close! And the tree … man-o-man it’s lighting the room up like a disco ball! Bring on the eggnog!!!
